Guidelines for Review and Survey Papers

The criteria for acceptance of survey and review papers are particularly stringent. Such manuscripts must:

  • Demonstrate a clear and compelling academic or industrial need for the review.
  • Explicitly position themselves in relation to existing reviews and surveys in the field.
  • Offer a valuable and critical synthesis of the literature, moving beyond mere description to generate new insights, identify future research trajectories, and provide authoritative critique.
  • Systematic reviews that solely describe publication patterns will not be considered for review. Authors of such papers are generally expected to have extensive experience and a recognized standing in the field to provide the necessary depth of insight and judgment.
